This course serves as an introductory survey of visual arts in relation to human society, with the aim of providing wide acquaintance with art forms and an appreciation of factors that have determined their development.  Students will develop an appreciation of the basic elements of design, techniques used by artists, and the function of art in society, as well as identify different art periods.  This course promotes creativity and innovative thinking by having students design, present, and interpret materials, information and ideas in innovative ways.
