In this course students will learn basic terminology and techniques of cinema in order to critique films as well as engage in actual film-making . Students will learn the basic vocabulary for responding to film, an overview of filmmaking techniques, and some of the historical and cultural context for appreciating cinema. By watching selected movies in class, students will learn how to develop a film from its initial script to the final editing stages. Students should be prepared to analyze specific films and collaborate with their peers to create their own original short films using programs such as Adobe Premier. However, prior knowledge or experience is in no way required and students can expect to receive instruction as they start with the very basics.
